Dragon Awakened - Dragon Heirs Book One, Now Available!

Dragon Awakened - Dragon Heirs Book One is now available at Amazon and on KU. I began writing the series in early 2023. Now book one has published, and book two is in proofreading. Book three is being critiqued by my alpha reader, and book four is in the drafting stage.

The series tells the story of three dragon shifter brothers from the realm of Adrakus, where dragon shifters rule, and humans are a small, secluded minority. Due to political upheaval, the brothers must leave their homes and better themselves for the coming battle.

Dragon Awakened's hero, Elouan Thorne, is alpha and the reluctant next in line for the throne of his dragon court. Circumstances force him to leave his home and journey to the human world.

He might also find a mate along the way. This series has alpha/omega pairings, as well as beta/beta and others, but has no MPREG.

Freedom, or a crown? What’s a dragon shifter to do?

Prince Elouan Thorne likes his life just fine. His destiny? Not so much. Becoming king is something he hopes to postpone—indefinitely. His choices vanish the day his uncle savagely murders his father, seizes the throne, and kills anyone daring to stand in his way.

Forced to flee to the human world, Elouan must discover his inner strength and awaken the alpha king within. But he can’t save his brothers, avenge his father, and rid Adrakus of an evil ruler alone. How can he find an omega mate to help him in Asheville, North Carolina?

The fate of the entire dragon realm rests in his reluctant talons.

And time is running out.

Dragon Heirs - Three brothers. Two choices. One destiny.

***

Each of the first three books feature a different brother, and the prologues for each capture a single devastating event, as seen through the eyes of each of the three brothers. Look for Dragon Enlisted: Dragon Heirs Book Two in late September or early October.

Book News! (Finallly!)

I was embarrassed to discover that I haven't posted in a year, almost to the day, for which I am extremely sorry. Sadly, there hasn't been much book news as life has given me plenty to deal with lately besides words on a page. But I finally have good news!

Dragon Heirs, a series about three royal dragon shifter brothers from the dragon realm who find themselves in the human realm, will soon be available. It's not that I'm writing faster, it's simply that I began writing this series in early 2023, and held the earlier volumes so I could release them close together, which is what some readers have told me they'd like. No more waiting a year to find out what happens next.

What started out as a trilogy has now increased to four books, with the first two past editing, and the third one in the beta process. The fourth, which I only recently discovered I'd need, is in the drafting process. My hope is two release one every two or three months.

The cover is from Ron Perry Graphic Design. Doesn't he do great work?

Dragon Awakened, the first installment, is now up for preorder on Amazon, releasing June 27. Here's the blurb.

New Release: King's Warrior: Warriors Book 2

King's Warrior: Warriors Book 2 is now launched into the world! The sequel to Warrior King took longer than expected, but I hope the extra time makes for a better book for readers.

One man is a king, the other a warrior. Commander Rufe Ferund, branded a traitor with a tattoo for all to see, must fight his way up the military ladder and restore his reputation. Does this include feeling worthy of the love of a king—even an enemy king?

King Niam knows the Cormiran Empire has long wanted to take the kingdom of Delletina as its own, but he’ll only make a deal with a new emperor since the former ruler conspired to take the country by force. Cormirans are vile, or so Niam has been told. Then a handsome Cormiran soldier stumbles onto his lands, offering a chance to size up the enemy for himself—and he realizes Rufe might not be the contemptible barbarian Niam formerly believed Cormirans to be.

But could there be more between them? Could the fire they feel in their souls lead to something else beyond a mere dalliance?

Traitors, court intrigue, and unseen dangers force the two closer together, while an old enemy hides in the shadows, ready to threaten Niam’s reign, and even their lives.

Warrior King is now available on Amazon and KU.

New Release: Immortal Sentry

Immortal Sentry is finally here, the tale of a cursed gargoyle, a prince in disguise, swords and sorcery.

Honor, redemption, destiny, and magic.

As captain of the king’s guard, Kerric should have laid down his life for the royal family. Now, the king and his heirs lie dead. Kerric deserves death, too, yet the court mage has another punishment in mind. For their failure on the fateful day an enemy invasion killed the king, Captain Kerric and his men will forever guard the castle as gargoyles, both as a curse and as a warning. His one chance for redemption is to put a rightful heir on the throne. How can that happen when there are no living heirs, and he’s encased in stone?

Eron doesn’t remember much about his time before being rescued by notorious highwayman Lord Night and taught to live the life of a noble by day and brigand by night. There’s much more to Lord Night than meets the eye and much more to Eron’s destiny than purses of gold and nightly conquests.

A mysterious mage appears, saying it’s time for Eron to return home, overthrow an evil usurper, and take his rightful place.

As king.

Cover Reveal and Preorder!

I am so happy to show tell you about my next release, Immortal Sentry. I fell in love with the cover by CJ Romano and wrote the book to reflect the image. It's already up for preorder on Amazon and will be released on October 19.

A gargoyle? A highwayman/prince in disguise? A grouchy mage? What more can anyone want?

Oh, but there's a bonus. A highwaywoman.

Here's the blurb:

New Release- Lighting the Darkness - A Carnival of Mysteries Story

I've got a new release for you!

This year I participated in the multi-author project Carnival of Mysteries, and my offering is now available at Amazon and on KU. Lighting the Darkness is a side story to my recently released Darkness, but it can be read as a standalone.

Only Light can balance Darkness.

Lio wakes in someone else’s battered body with plenty of questions but no answers. Who is he? Who are the strangers who rescued him? Why do they call him Tenebris and Darkness? And why does everyone treat him like a feral dog about to attack?

Bel Am’I’s home world of Domus died moments after his escape, trapping him in the human realm with a clear mission. As Light, he must prevent Darkness from destroying Terra and the Domusians who’ve escaped there. Failure will doom billions to certain death, but how can he locate and balance a single, hidden being who doesn’t want to be found?

A mysterious carnival unites Lio and Bel, who must work together to uncover Lio’s true identity and stop him from accidentally annihilating the world. Yet someone doesn’t want them to succeed, someone who will stop at nothing to achieve the total destruction of both realms—even pitting Light against Darkness.

The battle for the end begins…

Lighting the Darkness is part of the multi-author Carnival of Mysteries Series and a side story to Eden Winters' Darkness. Each book includes at least one visit to Errante Ame’s Carnival of Mysteries, a magical, multiverse traveling show full of unusual acts, games, and rides. The Carnival changes to suit the world it’s on, so each visit is unique and special. This book contains characters from Darkness as well as new ones, alternate realms, a twist on soul mates, and bad guys. I mean, evil, horrible, terrible guys. Definitely the type you wouldn’t bring home to Mother. And one cookie-baking demon.

All about the Carnival of Mysteries

I've told you a bit about the Carnival of Mysteries above, but this trailer might help. The multi-author project is in its second season, and there are currently twenty-five novels. Most are standalone, some are sequels, and some are like mine, which reference an author's previous work.

Check here for a complete listing of novels by some of your favorite authors, and some new to you authors who might become more of your favorites.

Season one was released last year and contains novels by L. A. Witt, Sara Ellis, Kayleigh Sky, Elizabeth Silver, EJ Russell, Rachel Langella, and TA Moore

Season two, which is in the process of releasing, has stories by Kim Fielding, Megan Derr, Liv Rancourt, BL Maxwell, Kaje Harper, Eden Winters, R.L. Merrill, Ander C. Lark, Nicole Dennis, Rachel Langella, Morgan Brice and ZA Maxfield.

It's amazing to see all the different takes on this project. I'm definitely enjoying

Stay tuned, as I'll soon have another preorder for you.

Darkness - Now Available for Preorder

I'm so proud to announce that the urban fantasy novel I've been working on for two years is finally up for preorder.

Darkness follows Lieutenant Morrisey James.

As an Atlanta PD detective, Morrisey understands the worst atrocities the city has to offer—or believes he does. His recent cases present something new: a killer who unleashes unbridled terror in victims before moving in for the kill. Morrisey has an edge, though, the terrifying ability to gain flashes of insight from each victim.

Most people assume Farren Austin is a shallow, pretty boy, but he’s so much more. Agent Austin keeps secrets as part of the FBI’s Alternate Entities Task Force, a unit created to monitor travelers from another realm. Although they might look human, they’re anything but.

And they’ve taken a special interest in Morrisey.

Partnered with Farren, Morrisey finds himself in the middle of demons trying to possess his body, a succubus sidekick who wants to cook him breakfast, accusations of being a powerful destructive force, and a growing number of people calling him “Darkness.” Not to mention a sudden overwhelming attraction to his new partner.

It’s going to take the mysterious Farren’s help to keep the latest case from being Morrisey’s last.

Happy Pubersary to Me!

On January 28, 2010, Torquere Press (now closed) released The Wish, my first book with a publisher. It was re-released in 2020 by Rocky Ridge Books.

I was terrified of how it might be received, but still thrilled to become a published author, which I couldn't have done without my friends and support system. Since then, I've written twenty-nine more novels and countless novellas, short stories, and anthology contributions.

Thank you, everyone, for making this journey with me.

Happy 14th (official) Pubversary to me!

Family. Sometimes even death can’t stop the meddling.

Byron Sinclair might be gone, but he has unfinished business before his spirit can rest: watch over his much-older partner Alfred Anderson, and see his lonely nephew Paul settled in a meaningful relationship.

With Alfred’s nephew, Alex, who hasn’t yet realized how badly he needs someone to see past the spoiled rich boy façade and love him for himself. They’d be perfect together, once Byron works out a few small problems.

Alex is convinced Paul is an opportunistic suck-up with the morals of an alley cat. Paul, from humble beginnings, isn’t impressed with aloof and arrogant playboy Alex, either. Both swear they know all they need to about the other, and need not look further.

But Byron sees what could be if they'd give each other half a chance, a romance for the ages like what he shared with Alfred. He's going to see their nephews happy together, or di…

Well, he’s already died, but he won’t stop trying.

New Christmas Novella

For a while there, I worried that feel-good holiday romance Must Love Dogs wouldn't be ready for release this month. I'm proud to announce that it's now up for preorder at Amazon, releasing December 16.

I think I should warn you, though, that this novella is different from my usual work. No one gets arrested or killed, there are no evil mages, and there's no angst. Nada. Zip. Not even a little. What's there is a lot of fluff and cute dogs.

Does a good deed outweigh a white lie?

With his family away this holiday season, Nathan Johnson faces his very first Christmas alone in a new city. Unexpectedly taking in the neighbor’s dog leads to a series of white lies, all designed to set his sister’s mind at ease. After all, Nathan really is spending the holidays with a stunning ginger named Oscar. He simply leaves out the part about Oscar being a dachshund.

Who knew Oscar would play furry little matchmaker and introduce Nathan to a gorgeous veterinarian who just might make Nathan’s dreams come true?

New Novel and Map of the Warrior King World

It's been awhile, but I finally have a new novel to tell you about: Warrior King, Warrior-Book 1 in a duology. Fantasy, enemies to lovers, opposites attract and forced marriage. The story has them all.

One man is the son of a traitor. The other is the son of a tyrannical emperor. Together, they discover the fine line between duty and justice.

Commander Draylon Aravaid doesn't hide his lineage as the emperor's son but doesn't advertise his origins either. Loyal to a fault, he relies on his hard-won reputation rather than his family name, which his duplicitous father uses to full advantage.

The two men must get past each other's mistrust, find common ground, and defeat an enemy neither knew they had...and may not survive!

Warrior King is now available for preorder on Amazon, releasing August 25.

While writing Warrior King, I started a map to keep locations clear in my mind, and to figure distances, times to destinations, etc. I intended to put the map into the book, but it made the ebook file size massive. So I'm going to show the empire of Cormira here, and will likely put a link into the book.

I am currently working on plotting the second book, King's Warrior, which features two secondary characters from Warrior King.

Thoughts on the Diversion Series: Manipulation

Some may not know that my Diversion series is based on actual crimes committed in the pharmaceutical industry, and as such they contain an awful lot of factual information that I hope blended in with the storyline.

That said, I'd like to point out a particular event in Manipulation, the fourth book in the series, and the scene where Lucky and Bo storm the pharma manufacturing facility.
While writing the book, I attended a Writer's Police Academy, where cops, firefighters, lawyers, forensics personnel and other professionals taught classes and held demonstrations so that writers can get things right. Yes, I now know how to blow doors off hinges, and the teacher from the forensics session helped me describe the body found in the drug tunnel. Oh, the emails I have on file. I'm expecting someone to show up at my door and question my internet searches any day now.
Anyway, after a session on entering and clearing the apartment of a suspect, we had some free time and our subject matter expert (a S.W.A.T officer) asked if we had any questions. There were only a few, so I asked if he could talk me through the scene. We physically went from door to door, covering the injured member of our team. How great is that for a clear visual? I didn't only imagine where Lucky might stand and how he'd hold his gun, I got to experience it for myself. How cool is that?

The entire Diversion series is available at Amazon in ebook, paperback, and audio format, as well as KU.

Lucky Lucklighter has a new life. His old life wants him back.

He traded trafficking for taking down criminals with the Southeastern Narcotics Bureau, and a drug-lord lover for a man on the right side of the law. Bo Schollenberger found the way past the thorny defenses of Lucky’s heart, and made Mr. I-Get-Along-Fine-Alone think about his and his closets, stevia in the sugar bowl, and a picket fence—with a good lock on the gate.

Now Bo is missing, and a voice long silenced asks, “Did you miss me?” Lucky must deal with a devil from his past to get Bo back.

And if Bo isn’t willing to come? A drug ring needs its back broken before flooding the US with a designer high, seductive and undetectable. But there’s a fine line between good and evil, and a truckload of temptation urging Lucky to cross.

Outed and dumped on national television by his rising star boyfriend, Joey Nichols must face the bigotry of the locals in his small Southern town alone. His dreams of a happy ever after lie crushed at his feet.

Novelist Troy Steele has an axe to grind against Hollywood heartbreaker types. Transforming Joey into a gorgeous, unobtainable hunk would be payback worthy of Troy’s poison pen. It's a brilliant way to get back at Joey’s image-obsessed ex-boyfriend and the movie producer who’s mutilating Troy’s novels.

What begins as simple revenge may tangle them together in something far more complicated. Living well may be the best revenge, but Troy and Joey could rewrite that to loving well.

Good News for Diversion Fans! New Spin-off Release!

When I finished book nine of the Diversion series, I thought I was finished with Bo, Lucky, and the Southeastern Narcotics Bureau. Then a friend asked, "What happened to Jerry from Corruption?"

Good question, which I hopefully answered in my latest offering, Petty Crimes. Although it's a spin-off story of the Diversion series, and has some of the same characters, it's intended as a standalone.

Jerry has turned his life around, and now works for Lucky at the SNB. Imagine answering to a boss who literally shot you. I truly enjoyed showing Lucky through the eyes of someone else.

Why can't life give him a break?

Five years ago, Jerry Wilkerson was running with a biker gang, making mistake after mistake, till he ended up in the hospital with a gunshot wound, facing criminal charges for drug distribution. On top of everything, he'd fallen in love with the narcotics agent who took them all down. Or rather, with Cyrus Cooper, the man that agent pretended to be.

Making a deal with the Southeastern Narcotics Bureau kept Jerry out of jail, sending him undercover as Brody Jenson, a petty criminal able to get into places other agents can't. He's satisfied with his life—or would be if he wasn't still longing for someone who never existed.

Then a man steps out of his dreams and into his life, who's everything Jerry ever wanted.

Except for the part where Jerry might have to arrest him.

Petty Crimes is now available for preorder at Amazon, releasing October 1, in time for GRL!

New Release News!

Right on the heels of Something Wicked comes Mage Bond, a story that takes place in the same magical realm, but with a different tone, different characters, different location, and about five hundred years in the past. Huh, judging by that description, they have nothing in common at all, except a few name drops of cities and other place, so you definitely do not need to read Something Wicked first.

So, ready for mages, pirates, and magical battles between good and evil?

A long-ago meeting sets fate into motion…

As captain of the city guards, Martin protects E'Skaara by day. At night, he creeps in shadows to defend the citizens from predators most cannot see. He's escaped from his past as a mage-born lad who'd nearly destroyed a village in self-defense. The three things he can't so easily elude? Rage at a deity who condemns mages to death, memories of a pirate who saved him, and the magic he must conceal.

Tavernkeeper Peter keeps secrets. Secrets that can get him killed: his desire for men, a pirate past, and magical abilities. He should run from the one place mages cannot be safe, but yearning for a lost love binds him to where they shared their last kiss, waiting for one more glimpse of a dear face.

When dark forces reunite them, the magic both men try so hard to hide might just be their salvation.
Mage Bond is now available for preorder on Amazon, releasing July 16.

The very talented Jacqueline Sweet created the cover. Isn't it pretty?

New Release: The Prince's Frog

 It's release day!

His Royal Highness Prince Rocky Jude Maxwell Bill Robert Chuck—let’s just call him Bob, shall we?—has a problem. Namely, royal parents set on marrying him off to a princess from the neighboring kingdom. Only, Bob doesn’t want to get married, would rather ogle Sir Blacksmith than fair maidens, and has a sneaking suspicion that his intended bride is not what she seems. So, where is a desperate prince with commitment issues supposed to turn?

Speaking of “not what they seem,” Sir Ribbit has been cooling his heels, literally, in the local bog with his disgraced fairy godmother and thousands of other frogs, waiting for the opportunity to break a three-year-old curse and return to his human form of Prince Evan Chuck Leo—Oh, heck, let’s call him Dave—hopefully, before maxing out a frog’s limited lifetime.

When a royal snit lands Bob in the muck of Dave’s front yard, plans are made to help each other. Inept plans, but still. Oh, and someone has to kiss a frog because everyone knows you have to kiss a few frogs before you land a handsome prince.

This story delightfully features talking frogs, inebriated fairies, awkward heroes, two princes in love, a deceptively innocent cover, and a solid HEA.

For most characters, anyway.

A Very Special Story

Every now a then, my muse gets a little silly, resulting in such stories as Galen and the Forest Lord, Hell is Where the Heart Is, and Hooves and Horns. The latest comedic venture is a spin on a fairy tale, called The Prince's Frog. I've actually been working on this story for a few years, picking it up and setting it down over and over.

Part of the issue was that the manuscript still contained comments from my dear friend and crit partner, PD Singer, who passed in 2020. I miss her terribly.

Open manuscript, read comments, close manuscript, cry. Come back three months later and try again. In the back of my mind, I could clearly imagine what she'd say if I gave up a project, so I pushed through. She was my greatest supporter and thought this would be a fun story.

Pam, I hope I've done you proud. So this story is special to me, as it's the last one I collaborated on with her.

New Release! Something Wicked

Only I could launch a new book and forget to post on my blog. Sorry, folks.

Something Wicked is now available on Amazon and on KU. This started with a premade cover by the super talented Charmaine Ross, and the idea continued from there. I mean, have you SEEN the guy on the cover? Wow!

Oh, and I had a wonderful time creating a snarky cat/spider/snake/raven/dragon/motorcycle familiar named Chynne.

A mysterious legacy. A magical journey. The worst guide in history!

Piers Adams never knew his parents or birthplace. All he wants from his mundane life is a better apartment and fewer working hours serving drinks at a club in Asheville, North Carolina. Sure, weirdness happens around him occasionally. Coincidences, right? He can’t possibly wish things into existence. After all, he’s only human.

Maybe.

It’s hard living down to a nickname like Wicked, but Prince Wycke Bertillian of the magical realm tries. He enjoys his lack of responsibilities until he’s coerced into a clandestine mission: find an evil sorceress’s hidden son in the human realm.

A chance encounter awakens magical potential beyond what either realm has seen before. Barely managing his own life doesn’t qualify Wycke to guide a novice sorcerer with infinite magic and zero self-preservation skills. Unfortunately, it’s Wycke or nothing standing between Piers and those who’d take Piers’ magic for themselves—magic powerful enough to rule two realms.

Piers and Wycke had better get their act together. Their lives and the fate of the human and magical worlds rests in their highly incompetent hands.
